Objective Evaluation of Subjective Driving Impressions

چکیده
In the development of passenger car driving behaviour much subjective testing is involved. Although many car manufacturers have developed objective test methods and have corresponding analyses, objective parameters which correlate one to one with the subjective rating in the international rating scale (1-very bad .... 10-excellent) are not available. FEV has developed objective parameters for two main interest items, steering response and secondary ride comfort. These parameters consider different analyses and correlate very well with the subjective ranking of the test drivers. To achieve this, an investigation was put through with more than 10 different vehicles, ranging from sportscar to SUV but focused on modern mainstream European cars. The cars were subjectively assessed by more than 20 experts and laypersons and a large number of measurements has been taken. The two parameters are developed based on a statistical regression analysis but a relation between separate sub-properties is maintained. The result is a simple measurement procedure that gives recognisable parameters and combines these to give an absolute rating for any car in the market. The parameters deliver the reason for a good or bad behaviour as well, so that optimisation measures can be focused on the main cause. This article deals with development of the objective parameters.

An Evaluation Framework and Case Study for Rhythmic Concatenative Synthesis
In this paper we present and report on a methodology for evaluating a creative MIR-based application of concatenative synthesis. After reviewing many existing applications of concatenative synthesis we have developed an application that specifically addresses loop-based rhythmic pattern generation. We describe how such a system could be evaluated with respect to its its objective retrieval perf...

متن کاملEffect of steering model fidelity on subjective evaluation of truck steering feel
The steering behaviour in a driving simulator has a significant influence on a driving realism. This study investigates the influence of the complexity of a steering-system model on the subjective assessment of truck steering feel in on-centre handling. Ten subjects drove a highway task with and without lateral wind disturbance with 4 steering-system model variants. The results show that detail...
متن کاملLearning to See People Like People: Predicting Social Impressions of Faces
Humans make complex inferences on faces, ranging from objective properties (gender, ethnicity, expression, age, identity, etc) to subjective judgments (facial attractiveness, trustworthiness, sociability, friendliness, etc). While the objective aspects of face perception have been extensively studied, relatively fewer computational models have been developed for the social impressions of faces....
متن کاملThe Older Driver with Cognitive Impairment: Perceptions of Driving Ability and Results of a Behind the Wheel Test
Older adult drivers with cognitive impairment pose a potential safety risk to themselves and others. Providers are often uncertain about when to request a formal evaluation of driving ability, leaving subjective reports of concerns by the patient or family as common initiators of objective driving evaluation referral. This observational study evaluated the correspondence of patient and caregive...
